Our Faith

The following is a general summary of what we believe as a church:

  1. The Bible (from Genesis to Revelation) is God's Word (2 Timothy 3:16). It is 'living and powerful' (Hebrews 4:12); the infallible foundation for all we can know as fallible humans. In it, we find the following truths:

  2. 'God is One' (Deuteronomy 6:4), yet He is known in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

  3. God is 'perfect' (Matthew 5:48), and that is reflected in all He says and does. He created the world for His glory, and made it 'very good' (Genesis 1:31). As the Bible tells us, 'God is light and in Him is no darkness at all' (1 John 1:5).

  4. The first two humans rejected God's ways in prideful disobedience and were separated from God. Each one of us has done the same. Since God is just, He has established a day of judgment at the end of time. Our sins must be punished; we cannot earn God's mercy by doing good.
  5. Jesus Christ, the Son of God (God in a human body), came as the promised & prophesied Messiah of Israel (John 4:25-26), the Saviour. He was born to a virgin, yet fully divine, as evidenced by His life, words and actions.
  6. God sent His Son to live a perfect life and face God's judgment in our place by laying down His life for His people (John 10:11). In this way, He completely satisfied the justice and anger of God on behalf of all who believe in Him (John 3:16). Three days later, He rose again to defeat death for His people!
  7. All are commanded to repent (turn around) and believe in Him for everlasting life (Acts 17:30-31).
  8. By God's Holy Spirit, God is always with His children (Romans 8:16). He helps us in our weakness as we walk with God (Romans 8:14), bearing the fruits of God's goodness in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Gatians 5:22-23).
  9. Believing sinners are justified (declared innocent) by God (2 Corinthians 5:21) & reunited with Him (Romans 5:10). This is only by God's undeserved mercy, through the gift of faith in Jesus Christ and nothing we have done so we cannot boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
  10. Our Risen Saviour and King will return (Revelation 22:12-13) to reign in His Kingdom (which will never end). He will raise all to judgment, bringing eternal life to His redeemed people and eternal condemnation to the lost (Matthew 25:46). There will be new heavens and a new earth (Revelation 21:2) where the righteous will dwell, in the light of (Revelation 21:23) and 'to the praise of His glory' (Ephesians 1:14) forever!
